The Philips GP-400 mk II was the entry level member of the second generation of Philips SUPER-M cartridges. Like the GP-400 predecessor it was equipped with a spherical stylus, the 946/D65. The SUPER-M family also comprised the elliptical GP-401 mk II, GP-406 mk II and GP-412 mk II as well as the Super Sonic Tracking (SST) CD4 line contact GP-422 mk II. All styli for all of these will work in the GP-400 mk II but we will list only the most direct replacements and most worthwhile upgrade options on this page.
Philips later revived the GP-400 mk II as the GP-500 mk II that uses exactly the same styli. Hence the GP-400 mk II is stylus compatible with both the GP-500 mk II and the GP-501 mk II.
