The Denon DL-108 was offered in several configurations, both with different stylus types and with or without pre-mounted headshells. The DL-108D variant, produced by Japan Columbia (Nippon Columbia), came with the elliptical DSN-40 stylus. This version was sold either as the DL-108D cartridge on its own, or as the DL-108DU, pre-mounted in the PCL-3 headshell.
In contrast, the DL-108R featured a conical (spherical) stylus and was also available both on its own (DL-108R) and as the DL-108RU when pre-mounted in a headshell.
The recommended tracking force for all versions was 1.8 g ± 0.3 g.
