The star of the original XV-15 series is the D1200 elliptical stylus. Though original replacement styli are no longer available the aftermarket stylus from JICO is a real winner. At a really good price the D1200 is worth serious considerations - also if you nomally use for example D750.

The Pickering XV-15 series is one of the most versatile vintage hi-fi cartridges ever made. Known for its smooth, controlled and low-sibilance presentation, the XV-15 cartridge can still deliver superb musical performance when fitted with the right stylus.
A useful guideline when choosing a replacement for Pickering XV-15 is the stylus number itself. In general, higher model numbers indicate higher compliance and lower recommended tracking force - making them ideal for lighter tonearms. For example, the D1200 tracks at around 0,75–1,5 g and is well suited for light arms. Models like the D625 sit in the middle range and are compatible with a broad selection of tonearms. Lower-numbered styli typically track at higher force and are better suited for heavier arms.
All styli listed here are fully compatible with the Pickering XV-15 cartridge series and interchangeable within the XV-15 family. The XV-15 design is mechanically equivalent to the Stanton 680/681 platform, which is why stylus types, although very different looking, are still interchangeable.
