VN5HE Stylus for Shure V15V & V15V-B (VB)
Originally when introduced in 1982 the hyper elliptical VN5HE was the top of the line stylus for V15V. That changed a few years later whith the introduction of the MR Micro-Ridge upgrade stylus but still the VN5HE was a very fine stylus nude mounted on a berrylium cantilever. The available hyper elliptical replacement from Tonar is mounted on an aluminium alloy cantilever. Since all styli presented on this page are interchangeable the MR type SAS styli from JICO are also valid options to consider when replacing a VN5HE stylus.

VN5MR Stylus for Shure V15V
The introduction of the MR - Micro-Ridge stylus for Shure V15V marked a new high point for Shure's famous and long-standing V15 family of cartridges. Any V15V cartridge body can be upgraded with an MR type stylus for the absolute best in sound reproduction. Today luckily JICO SAS styli are available as excellent aftermarket options with both Boron, Sapphire and Ruby cantilever.

On this page we assembled all our replacement stylus options for Shure V15 type V (mk 5). Since they are all interchangeable you can choose a stylus to you liking and mount on your V15 type cartridge body.
The first type V version introduced was the V15V and V15V-B (VB). These two were identical except for V15V’s premium packaging and V15V-B basic packaging. Both were mounted with the hyper-elliptical VN5HE stylus. The direct replacement for this is our hyper-elliptical aftermarket stylus. You may also consider the more refined shibata cut stylus shown separately on this page.
Should you wish to go all the way, you can install a JICO SAS stylus on your V15V cartridge body. Essentially you will make your cart a V15V-MR (VMR). The SAS stylus is a micro-ridge type stylus. Available both with boron, sapphire and ruby cantilever. The Shure V15V cartridge body is a very capable and well constructed cartridge and with a SAS stylus you will bring out the absolute best from it.
Shure also introduced V15V with a spherical stylus. In this configuration the cartridge was called V15V-G (VG) and the stylus is called VN5G. Currently we have no spherical replacement stylus but we offer a standard elliptical stylus from Tonar.
Finally the P mount (T4P) version of V15V is called V15V-P (VP). It’s VN5P stylus can be replaced with any of the options on this page since they are all within T4P specs.
